Dr. Sami Elias Asmar

Lead Physician - MD

Dr. Asmar is an accomplished internal medicine physician with extensive clinical, academic, and leadership experience. He earned his MD from Damascus University School of Medicine in 1992 and completed his internal medicine residency at McLaren Regional Medical Center in Flint, Michigan, in 1997.

Dr. Asmar has held several notable roles throughout his career. He served as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at Michigan State University from 1998 to 2011 and at Oakland University from 2019 to the present. From 2008 to 2011, he was the Head of the Internal Medicine Division at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Since 2011, he has been the Medical Director at Forum Medical Clinic in Sterling Heights, Michigan. Additionally, he served as the Medical Director of Hospice at McLaren Hospital from 1999 to 2010.

Throughout his career, Dr. Asmar has been recognized for his excellence in teaching and research. He has received awards from the American College of Physicians and Michigan State University and has had his work published in leading medical journals. Dr. Asmar has also presented at national and international conferences on topics including hyponatremia and hallucinogenic plants.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Asmar enjoys spending his free time playing golf and tennis. He also has a passion for exploring the histories of ancient civilizations, particularly those of the Assyrians and the Middle East.
